• In our experience, the best rates on packing supplies can be found at Lowe’s and Home Depot.
  • Don’t underestimate the number of small boxes you will need. Small boxes are less expensive and are much easier to carry.
  • Get 4-6 rolls of packing tape. It’s better to have too much than too little.
  • Avoid tape guns. They are more expensive and unnecessary.
  • 1 or 2 packages of wrapping paper for wrapping dishes and breakables.
  • Colored tabs are great to group boxes by room.
  • Pick up some mattress and/or box spring covers especially if your mattress and/or box spring is under warranty. Some warranties are voided when mattresses or box springs are dirty or damaged.
  • Thick permanent markers are great. Mark everything. You’ll thank yourself for being more detailed later.
  • Bubble wrap for wrapping pictures and flat-screen TVs.
  • Shrinkwrap to bundle items together.
  • Trash bags with drawstrings are the most affordable way to transport hanging clothes. Simply poke a hole in the bottom of bags and bundle 7-10 hanging items into a single trash bag. Tying the drawstring will seal off the bag.
  • Wardrobe boxes are another common method of transporting hanging clothes.
  • Purchase extra cleaning products for cleaning your furniture and old residence. Many people prefer to hire a cleaning service.
